Where the Barrett Model Comes From

British thought leader Richard Barrett developed the model in the late 1990s. Drawing on Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, models of personal development, as well as Eastern wisdom traditions, he translated human growth into an universal map for transformation.

Since then, more than 6 million assessments have been conducted across companies, NGOs, and public institutions worldwide. The insight: human and organizational development follow recognisable stages of maturity — regardless of industry, size, or culture.
